BLOSSOM

Miller’s BLOSSOM series feature multiple layers of each five-petal flower that are built up over time. The artist started and continues to paint his florals using only a palette knife and thick acrylic paint. Squeezing paint from hundreds of tubes, Miller meticulously creates each petal, concentrating on the balance of color, intensity, texture, and placement to create a visual depth of field that is pleasing to the eye. Miller enjoys working with the blade of a palette knife while applying color to the canvas to form each petal in the same way a baker smoothes frosting over a cake.
