Inside | Outside Squares

INSIDE | OUTSIDE SQUARES is part of a series that plays on Miller’s fascination with multidimensional environments. Miller uses acrylic on wood for its highly saturated and vivid colors. The use of natural raw materials (Baltic birchwood) entangled in a complex free-flowing form plays into Miller’s respect of nature and color. The custom cut squares are set on a wood frame allowing the shapes and colors to contradict the negative and transparent space that appears to float between them. Miller offers the viewer a new lens of figuration and form to explore notions of perspective, authorship, and control. INSIDE | OUTSIDE SQUARES tests the limits of the symbiosis with space in the work of Miller, whose pieces connect intrinsically within the frame that contains them.
