CIRCLES represents the artist’s fascination with form and the idea of an endless loop with no beginning or end. Miller uses basic black and white colors in simple geometric shaped circles throughout as opposing forces in the color spectrum to create the negative space and feeling of movement throughout the work. This movement begs the viewer to explore each individual circle one at a time. Miller did not use any paint brushes in the making of this piece. Instead, the artist used a 4” circular styrofoam object and his palette knife to sculpt, shape, and design each circle. Miller’s process of dipping styrofoam into thick heavy body acrylic allowed the artist to overlap the 100+ circles and create a sense of imagination, depth and perspective. Miller completes the work by leaving his circular styrofoam object trapped in the paint.
