The Talk

The Talk is a painting that I created to show society, Black boys and men that life in American is like a game of chess, not checkers for many Black males. Every move we make almost has to be intentional and sometimes strategic. Men of others races have agreed with me that this statement holds true for any man. However, I have to remind them that color of their skin is not part of their equation negatively. The color of their skin doesn’t create a prejudice or create discrimination or racism before you make a move. This type of stereotype is not limited to other races but within the Black community and culture. The Talk includes Blacks interacting with other Black men negatively. In many communities Black people within that community can be as harsh as racist against Blacks. Society through media and culture has taught Blacks to literally hate and discriminate against other Blacks which results in self-hate and sometimes death.
