Artist Statement

I’m influenced by what I’ve seen and experienced, including extensive travel.  Classically trained, I worked realistically in oil and watercolor for about 20 years.  Now my paintings are abstract and intuitive. They become deliberate and intentional as they progress, evolving into focused explorations of composition and color. My work consists of layers, most of which are only partially visible – like time and space – ambiguous and meant to be interpreted by the viewer. It seems everyone sees or feels something different when observing and I find this fascinating. I’m told they feel happy; I hope they cheer you!
